Panhandle of Florida: Visiting State Parks

During our trip to the Florida Panhandle, swimming in a natural spring was a highlight for me. We went to Ponce De Leon Springs State Park.

The natural spring is 68 degrees year round. It felt like ice dipping my toes into the water. I took over an hour to immerse myself in the waters. My toddler kept jumping in, screaming, scurrying out and then jumping in again. She was unable to comprehend why it was 90 degrees outside yet the water felt so cold. As one of the patrons said you “numb up” after you get in. It was true. Once you got over the initial shock of freezing water my body did numb up and I enjoyed swimming in the beautiful spring. It was so crowded but despite the crowds it was an enjoyable experience.

Little lady, two brothers- Lifestyle Newborn

This little lady is so lucky to have two older brothers. She has a built in fan club ready for her. The oldest was especially helpful. He is so big that he was able to hold baby sister all by himself. He did so ever so carefully. We talked about all of her adorable features and were able to just stare at her. Newborns add such a special spirit to a home. They add a peace and always remind me their is so much good in the world. I felt so grateful to be invited into this family’s home.

Since this darling little girl is the third child the atmosphere in the home was very laid- back. The parent’s took everything in stride. We did family photos first and then the boys went to the dining area to have lunch. One of the benefits of doing a session at home is anything the older kids need is just a room away. It’s always amazing to me that this little person wasn’t here a few weeks ago. Then she came and fit ever so perfectly into the home. She fills a gap in the home that the family never knew was missing.

Lifestyle Newborn Three children

One of the things I love to showcase in my newborn work is holding your babe. Images of me holding my children are so precious to me. It takes me back to the moment of being so close to them that I can smell them. Snuggling them right next to my chest is as close to them as I’ll get. I love the innocent intimacy between a parent and child. LIttle lady at home

Family Picnic at the Park

This delightful picnic took place at Memorial Park in the Riverside area of Jacksonville, Florida. This picnic basket was used for this couple’s engagement session and an anniversary session. I love that they incorporated a prop that has seen their family grow. Plus, it just gave a cozy feel to all of these spring time photos.

Every age has different challenges with photographing them. The 18 month old crowd is challenging because they can’t sit still. BUT with it’s challenges there are far more rewards. The 18 month crowd while busy is SO MUCH fun. They delight in peek-a-boo, movement, and play. As you can see from these photos we had lots of fun. I love to see how much the parent’s delight in their toddler as well. We go for the posed portrait but also capture the love, kisses, cuddles, the quiet and rambunctious. Even though there is only one child there is numerous poses that can be done to showcase the loving connections between parent and child. It’s so special.

Another benefit with 18 month old is they can’t fake smile. They only smile if they are truly delighted. Those little smiles and laughs just erupt. They are the best and you can see all the little teeth that are coming in. I hope years down the road when these photos are looked at this little boy will see how much he is loved. Also when the parent’s see these photos in months to come they will see how fleeting this time is with our babies and cherish the happy busy child.
