A laid-back, intimate beach wedding just reaffirmed to me that I love beach people. They are so easy going and know how to have a good time. I was deeply honored to photograph this wedding. Aside from the officiant, only family members were present at the wedding. Two families became one. What better way to get to know one family than to meet the entire family. This part of Atlantic beach has so much history for the bride. She grew up coming to this beach to visit her grandmother, her cousin got married here and her parents have lived here as well.
These photos were taken in the middle of a hot day. The family were troopers taken photos in the hot sun. It was a gorgeous beach wedding. The bride spent the night with her crew at the Sawgrass Marriott Resort. It’s a beautiful hotel and the perfect place to relax and enjoy oneself before the big day. Everyone looked stunning and the bride was glowing. Their children and nephews were a part of the big day- which made it extra special.
After the wedding, they were going to have a family barbecue and celebrate the following days at Disney World. What better way to celebrate than with the most important people in their lives.ClickClick Continue after the jump to see more photos from this beach ceremony.
This little lady is so lucky to have two older brothers. She has a built in fan club ready for her. The oldest was especially helpful. He is so big that he was able to hold baby sister all by himself. He did so ever so carefully. We talked about all of her adorable features and were able to just stare at her. Newborns add such a special spirit to a home. They add a peace and always remind me their is so much good in the world. I felt so grateful to be invited into this family’s home.
Since this darling little girl is the third child the atmosphere in the home was very laid- back. The parent’s took everything in stride. We did family photos first and then the boys went to the dining area to have lunch. One of the benefits of doing a session at home is anything the older kids need is just a room away. It’s always amazing to me that this little person wasn’t here a few weeks ago. Then she came and fit ever so perfectly into the home. She fills a gap in the home that the family never knew was missing.
One of the things I love to showcase in my newborn work is holding your babe. Images of me holding my children are so precious to me. It takes me back to the moment of being so close to them that I can smell them. Snuggling them right next to my chest is as close to them as I’ll get. I love the innocent intimacy between a parent and child.
These photographs were centered around the concept of a family party decorating Easter eggs. These photos were taken right before Easter. I loved everything about the photo-session. Since this was an extended family session, there are countless combination of photographs I could take. I asked ahead of time what photographs were important to capture then went from there. There were the grandparents, their three children and one of the daughter’s husband and their two girls.
The Concept:
I loved the concept of a family party decorating Easter eggs. All credit goes to Granny. She coordinated the backyard and beach sessions from last year. We emailed back and forth to figure out her vision. The focus was to be on the grandchildren (of course) and their aunt and uncle who were visiting from out of town. I was told that it would be a pretend decorating party. I mentioned I was worried the girls wouldn’t be entertained for the duration of taking photos.
Then I showed up and there were more things to decorate than I anticipated. The granddaughters were entertained the whole time! They didn’t want to leave the table. There were stickers, paint, scissors, markers, play-doh, bubbles, and masks. Everyone had a blast. The decorations were so festive and fun. The bulk of the supplies were purchased at Target.
The Connection:
Since the kids were busy the whole time, it created a relaxed atmosphere and everyone enjoyed being present. Even though this was a planned photo-session, all the decorating and all the emotions are real. That’s why I love lifestyle photography so much- it’s authentic. This family created a wonderful night of memories that will be cherished years to come.
The Location:
They chose a location that they frequently visit. This took place at their neighborhood park. I had gone to the park previously to scout around for the best light for the photos taken after the egg decorating. You can’t tell from these photos but there is a playground right next to where we were.
The Clothes:
There was a slight chill in the air. The one good thing about cooler weather is it allows for sweaters and extra layers in the photo. I thought it was brilliant to have shawls as well. It looked elegant and added another layer. The extra accessories, jewelry, nails done, braided hair, bows, belts adds visual interest and great texture. The men looked handsome and ladies looked gorgeous.
