Caprock Winery: Family Session

This family session was photographed at the Caprock Winery and a nearby field. This little family of three will be a family of four in a few months. The mother is about five months pregnant when these photos were taken. The weather in Lubbock in November can be a little unpredictable. Some days are warm, others are cool and others are just plain cold. I would say this session was on the cooler side. This little girl was such a trooper to take photos despite the cooler weather. I loved her cute homemade bow and that she wanted to hold a rock for part of the session. I liked how their clothes complemented the blue building in the background and contrasted nicely with the tall wheat.

Portraits: Grandfather

I love giving the gift of portraits to my family. I saw this article on fstoppers.com by photographer Tom Hussey. I immediately thought of my grandfather. My grandfather is 96 yrs old at the time of the photograph. I remember how strong my grandfather’s work ethic is and love for his “sweet heart”. This series reminds us who are loved ones really are despite their aging bodies.

My grandfather had recently broken his hip—his first time in his life he was not able to walk. We had a family reunion during the day and this photo was taken at night. This photo was going to hang up in his room but three weeks after the photo session it was printed and displayed at his funeral. It was a fabulous photo to be displayed for the family to see. I want to do this type of photo for some other family members. Do you have any other ways to honor your family through photographs?  Grandfather-9349

Urban Maternity Session: Jacksonville Maternity Photographer

This maternity session was photographed in downtown Lubbock, Texas. This mother is right at the end of her third trimester in these photos. Doesn’t she look fantastic? Her hubby was so laid back and easy going throughout the session. Right as the sun was setting these two started to dance and I thought why must this session end? I could have photographed them for hours more. These two were such a blast to photograph.

Blog-3 The best thing about dressing in layers was a with a few quick changes the look was completely different. First a cardigan, then a scarf styled a few ways. I simply loved all of the details in her outfit and especially the stamped necklace with her baby’s name engraved.  Blog-2
