This is Little Talbot Island State Park. We went here just a few days after Hurricane Matthew. I just posted what Jacksonville Beach looked like after the Hurricane right here. I got a comment that the sand dunes were still present in some places just smaller and more narrow. Yes, in some places the sand dunes are still present but smaller. Little Talbot Island is an example of the sand dunes still there. It was slightly chilly this evening (70) and windy. I thought it was funny that my daughter said how cold it was but the opportunity to take a shower at the beach somehow outweighed the cold.
We found some Welk shells and lots of tree branches. The sky was incredible that night. I wish every sunset was like this but I guess it makes these ones even more special.
“The sand dunes are gone.” After Hurricane Matthew, I was talking to a family about their upcoming beach photos and I said we can take pictures here, here and the dunes. And she looked at me and said they were gone. I was perplexed how could the dunes be gone? I guess the dunes did their job and helped protect the coast.
On the beaches I’ve noticed a lot of board walks are unusable, trees are down, a TON reeds have washed up upon shore, people’s fences are completely obliterated and their homes exposed. There are still some piles of sand dunes but the ones that are left are a lot more narrow and small. Others that are left are jagged. I know that some beaches along the coast are still closed because of the destruction like Huguenot Beach.
The picture of the building seems like just a building but it’s supposed to have sand dunes in front of it. There are a ton more “treasures” on the beach to collect now. There are also some large ditches. I am not sure if those are from the wind from the storm or something else. We’ve seen the large trees be turned into seesaws. These photographs were taken around 7th south Jacksonville Beach. It was strange to drive up to the parking lot and see the ocean their used to be sea oats and dunes that gently blocked the view. These photos were taken in the afternoon and to document some of the aftermath of the storm. What things have you noticed that are different at the beaches now? Continue after the jump to see the rest of the photos.
This was a beautiful anniversary session. When these two were dating, they joked they should plan a date where they threw darts at paint filled balloons. This idea was inspired by the movie The Princess Diaries. Do you remember the scene? They recently celebrated their one year wedding anniversary. The paint filled balloons was the inspiration behind this playful session. The other request was for fall colored leaves. These were taken at the beginning of September and the leaves were just starting to change. These photos were taken on the Alpine Loop in Utah. If you are ever there in the fall it is absolutely worth it to drive and hike around.
I loved hanging out with these two- they are still completely smitten by each other. An anniversary session is just like you’re going on a date but with me as well. I loved watching how effortlessly they played, laughed, cuddled and loved each other. Also just watching the way he looked at her- I got butterflies in my stomach. I really want to experience my own anniversary session after watching these two.
Aren’t they such a good looking couple? They chose the perfect colors to wear for the fall and complement the background. I hope these images serve as a reminder in years to come that first and foremost they are a couple and they chose each other. Happy Anniversary you two! Continue after the jump if you want to fall in love again.
