Jacksonville Child Photographer
This child session was actually taken at the Jacksonville Zoo. We were not planning on taking any pictures with the animals just planning on taking pictures where there was pretty light. These pictures were taken from about 11-noon. While this can be a time of the day where the light can be harsh we just found locations of open shade. I think consideration of light is important when you plan to take photos. You can take pictures anywhere but not necessarily at any time of day (because of the sunlight). We don’t want harsh shadows across someone’s face or underneath their eyes. You can take pictures at any time of the day but not necessarily at any location. So, if you have a specific location and background then you need to figure out what time of the day is best to take those pictures.
Let’s get back to these adorable girls. We had a lot of fun and saw some animals between wardrobe changes. Having an activity to do made the session less stressful. This gave the girls lots of breaks and distractions instead of just taking photos the whole time. The purple flowers were just the perfect back drop for a little girl who recently turned one! Her and her sister were so cute singing together. We sang “if you’re happy and you know it,” kids relate so well to music. The girls were so excited to sing, clap and giggle through the song. Momma was super prepared for multiple outfits with snacks and wipes. These girls were such a pleasure to photograph. Such pretty hair glistening in the sunlight!

Doesn’t she have the cutest little profile? I also love watching children’s faces as they are absorbed in what their little hands are doing. We gave her some flowers that had fallen to hold. This helped those one year old little legs stay still for a few moments.

Great photos of our granddaughters at the zoo! Now I won’t be able to get the song “If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands,” out of my head for the rest of the day. I love your astute comments about light and photography. Maybe it will help me take better photos. But then, we have you to take pictures of us with your better professional eye.
